A Mother's Day GiveAway

I've been looking at the calendar today. Seems like the year 2010 is sailing along even faster than 2009 did. Does it seem that way to you? Life just seems to be zooming past, barely allowing me to recognize one day from the next. I can't say I'm crazy about my days turning into yesterdays in such a blur.

The other day I was feeling particularly down about time going by so fast. It had occurred to me that I only get to see my son about once a year and if I am lucky enough to live another twenty years....that means I'll only see him twenty more times. Well, that's simply not enough!! What's a mother to do? So, I called him and let him know that he needs to let me 'see' him more often on that lovely camera we have with our Apple computers......I figure seeing him and hearing his voice via the computer is much better than not seeing him at all and even though we have to kind of 'plan' it...it's a real treat for me. We simply must do that more often. You know, a phone call is great....after all there's 'that' voice. But, the face...well, there's nothing better for a mother to see than 'that' face!

So, having said all that....I'm having a giveaway for Mother's Day. Leave your comment on this post and your name will be in the running for the following items:

A little book about mothers by Mary Engelbreit
A package of three charms by Blue Moon
A card of vintage crystal buttons
Two spools of silk embroidery thread by Kreinik
A tiny rose plate with three mother-of-pearl buttons
A wonderful crazyquilted needle case made by my friend, Brenda, which I purchased to give to YOU...embellished with a beaded edge I added just today.

So, there you have it....a Mother's Day GiveAway....please comment, then let me send all these goodies to one of you to keep or give to your mom! take care, pat

PS. Remember to check back on Sunday night!

I do love skype since one daughter lives on the other side of the country and the other one is in England. I rely on email most often though. I just had a discussion about adult children and keeping in contact with their parents. I think it's more often the males that don't seem to think it is all that important to us - what a shame.

What a wonderful giveaway. Mothers day is such a wonderful holiday to honor your Mother. I wish my Mother were still alive so I could tell her face to face how much I love her and thank her for all she had done for me and my family. There is not a single day that goes by that I do not think of her and I think I miss her more every single day. Thank God my daughters and son live close by and I see them everyday. I am very fortunate to have them. My Mom passed when she was only 62, and the pain never goes away. So on Mother's Day I still honor my Mother and cherish every moment I had with her.

Pat,

Hope you and your son will enjoy more "together" time via online video and audio. I remember how my late mother used to phone her mother "long distance." My mother couldn't afford to talk long, so she'd talk really fast.

Sometimes, after their call ended, my mom would remember something important she forgot to mention to my grandmother. My mom would have to wait until the following Saturday to phone again--and only after the rates changed. Pathways of communication have come a long way since the 1960s!

Sorry I haven't commented in a while. I have been reading and enjoying your posts.

I recently attended a sewing retreat in Rogers. Evy Hawkins, Melissa Billingsley, Joan Friedrich, and Pam Mashsie taught the classes. I learned about making lace on a serger, Madeira embroidery, and how to add texture and sparkle with felted embellishments. I enjoyed it very much!

Great giveaways, by the way!

Hi, Pat! I know what you mean about time flying by ... like lightening. I consider it a good day when I actually know what day it is! There you go, being generous again with beautiful things. Thanks for the opportunity. Have a wonderful Mothers Day yourself! (botm2@yahoo.com)

What a lovely gift you have put together. I just recently made some needle books out of felt and gave away all that I have made. I have not made myself one yet. This one is very pretty!

I understand your frustration about not seeing your son much. We had a talk with our oldest son and daughter-in-law about that very thing. It made a difference.

Love the goodies in your giveaway!

Hi Pat, Ikind of remember you posting pics of him on his last visit. I don't live by my son and only get to visit so I know what you mean. It is a very nice giveaway you are doing. Thank you.

Technology is great isn't it? I speak with my sister in Hong Kong, practically every other day using google chat but nothing to beat having the person there in front of you.
That's afantastic line up of goodies for your giveaway and I'd like you to include my name in the draw, thank you.
happy mother's day

Your giveaway is lovely and I would love the pretty things, although I am in the UK and the postage would be huge so I don't expect you to include me... I am curious though as we have had UK mothers' day - so you have a different date to celebrate. Hope you get to see your family more often.

I just came back to reading blogs after a self-imposed sabbatical and this was the first one I read. It so touched me because our circumstances seem so similar. My only child - my son, lives 800 miles away and although we speak every few days, I don't get to see "that face" very often! Love the camera idea and we'll give it a try.

Also LOVE the giveaway items, so if it's not too late - count me in too! Thanks for a lovely post.

Beautiful but melancholy post, dear Pat. And lovely giveaway; you know you had me with the little dish and the mother-of-pearl buttons! And remember, having kids who are crazy about you can make up (just a little bit) for not getting to see them as much as you'd like. At least, I hope that's true...

Pat, I dropped in today to wish you a happy weekend and see what was new in your world and wasn't expecting a giveaway! As I read your post I couldn't help but identify with what you were saying. My kids and me are always talking about how fast the time is going. Used to be time seemed to go faster as you got older, but my kids say time is just speeding by at an excelerated speed. We don't like it at all! Being the mother of a very dear son, I feel for you about not seeing your's more often. You can never see that face too many times. I do hope you have a wonderful weekend! Thanks for the opportunity to win such a nice giveaway! Twyla

What a lovely give-away. Thank you for being so generous to your readers. ME is one of my very favorite artists. I love her use of bright colors and the imaginative details. I could look at her art work for hours and keep finding something new or interesting.

Beautiful! Years ago we went to the house that was prepared for Marie Antoinette to flee too here in the states - not far from where I am now. There were beautiful quilts in the same style as you have used. My Grandmother, Mom and I made one, but we never finished the embroidery as completely as we wanted to. Yours is a great use of that quilting - beautiful idea.

A mother never stops being a mother, no matter what age our child is. It is hard to believe that for me, one short year and my son will be out and on his own. Time sure has gone fast, he has grown, and so have I. Thank you for sharing your treasures.

Thanks for visiting my blog (and entering my giveaway!) I totally agree that I have met some of the sweetest people through blogging - it is such a wonderful way to connect with like minded souls.
