Time Sure Does Fly

Earlier today I was looking for something...you know how it goes, you're looking for something that you don't manage to find, but in doing so, you find something you had not seen for a while.  That's what prompted this post.  I made this pillow cover in 1992.  (here minus the actual pillow...flattened a long time ago).  I took my hand print and my grandson Tyler's hand print and appliqued them over and under this heart....seems like just yesterday.   He was seven years old then.  Tyler is now thirty-two years old, but today, looking at this pillow....it just doesn't seem possible.  He is my only grandchild, which makes him very special indeed.

Above the pillow, there is a small watercolor, painted by my friend, Jim.  And, there is Ty...sitting in a boat.  He loves the water, that's for sure.  This is one my favorite things Jim ever painted.  Imagine that!

And there is this little drawing of a car, truck and trailer loaded with a tractor.  I just love it.  Ty drew this in 1996, aged eleven, for my birthday.

 Under the heart it says:

"Heart and Hands shall never part"
 and
"When this you see, Remember Me"

 One of my favorite stories:

When Ty was six years old, I took him shopping with me.  On the way home, he was just chatting away....and, of course, I was really enjoying the conversation.  I said, "Ty, when I get old will you still come visit me and talk like this?"  He thought a minute, then said:  "Sure Grandmother!   A  long pause...then he looked at me and said, "GRANDMOTHER, YOU ARE ALREADY OLD!"
I still laugh about that.  (I was forty-six!)

Tyler and Some Bears

This afternoon, I was 'fluffing up' some teddy bears...there are several here and there in my house.
I've had bears here since my kids were little...after all, who can resist a teddy bear?  They made me think of a photo I have of my grandson taken...well, many years ago now....but what a great photo.  Here he is....with a great big bear!  Both are adorable.  Tyler was eight in this photo...taken in Eureka Springs on a family trip.  We all loved that big old bear....I'm sure he was just sitting there waiting for a kid to come along to keep him company.    Someone had tried to put a shirt on him, but didn't get very far.  That made Tyler laugh.  One of the fun memories!!  Tyler is THIRTY-ONE now.  I wonder if he remembers this?  (I'm going to send this photo to him and find out.)

These are the bears I was fluffing up today.  A very cute assortment.  Look at their faces....just like us, each one has his/her own facial expressions.  The two on the left, of all things, belonged to my mother and they have really cute old fashioned dresses on, part of the reason they came to live with me.

Seriously, do you see different expressions?

As I said, these two were my mothers.   The smaller one definitely has a different expression....might be my favorite.  Let me just say, I recognize that mood there.

I think they are cute...and it's good to fluff a teddy bear once in a while!!!

My Grandson's Sailboat

This is my grandson Tyler's sailboat.  He and a couple of friends took it out on the lake over the weekend.  The part of the weekend without rain.  He sent this photo to me via his cell phone.  It was taken by his cousin.  I think it's a nice photo.  Ty has had this sailboat for a couple of years now...he's done some restoration work on it.  He didn't fall far from his grandmother's tree, as he likes to 'find' things.  This sailboat he found on Craig's list.  For FREE.  He had to drive to Little Rock to get it.  It came complete with trailer.  Nice find, I would say.  So, Happy Sailing, Tyler!  Be safe and enjoy!!
