A Birthday Giveaway

Hey there! Once again, time has flown by and my birthday is fast approaching. It's next Monday, October 18th. For those of you who were 'with me' here on my last two birthdays, you know I like to give something away to celebrate the occasion. This time I will be sixty-six years old! Who knew?

A funny thing happened to me the other week....I was driving my little PT Cruiser and just happened to look at my hands on the steering wheel and the oddest thing happened....I really SAW my hands.....and realized they looked like an 'old lady's hands.' It was shocking! Up until that moment, I thought I was handling my age pretty well. Surprise! Surprise! Several times that day, I noticed them and why I hadn't before, I've no idea. I suppose age just creeps up on a person. But, not to worry, I don't feel old....so it will be OK.

Here's what you might receive for my birthday: a pretty little pink rose box that looks like a small suitcase filled with goodies, among them a clip-on rose, a cross-stitch embroidered basket of flowers lingerie bag, a 2011 calendar, a rose cosmetic bag, pink and green buttons in little plastic jars, a card of pink buttons, four spools of silk twist thread, three vials of beads, a pink crocheted doily, a tiny green pottery bowl made by my friend, Burt and one of my current 'favorite' things...an little envelope book I've made just for you.

If you would like to help me celebrate and win these 'goodies' then kindly leave a comment on this blog post and on Monday, October 18, 2010, a little after 10:00, I will have a random drawing and "that old navy man" can choose the winner. Kindly give me a way to reach you should your name be drawn.

How's that for a celebration? I'll look forward to sending these things to one of my blogging friends! I think that is a great way to celebrate my birthday......meantime, take care, pat

PS. I've taken on the little job of writing a 'journal entry' every Thursday at Second Saturday Studio's blog....just a little way to help out those two sweet girls, Micah and Kelly. If you are interested in seeing what I wrote about today...kindly visit Second Saturday Studio HERE. I'll look forward to your comments both here and there!

Also, in Arkansas, we can 'Early' Vote beginning on my birthday....so I definitely will do so on that day...I urge you all to get out and vote....sooner rather than at the last minute. Join me!

What pretty things - I would be very happy to receive just the lingerie bag... a lovely sample of your work ... I have old lady hands and a neck to match - since my 50th it has started to creep in - am learning to accept that it's best to grow old gracefully and not fight it! Betty xxx

I hope your birthday is as special as you are and it is so nice of you to have such a beautiful give-a-way to celebrate.

I just noticed my hands on my birthday last month for whatever reason and my first thought was my hands were looking more and more like my Mom's. I like the thought that it is character not age especially since I don't feel that old.

Happy Birthday Pat, I just mentioned to a friend of mine yesterday that isnt it nice to live in a time when the concept of age and what is considered old has changed so much for the better. Enjoy and celebrate a wonderful day. Amy

What a lovely give-away and Happy Birthday to you! Please enter my name. Sometimes today when you have some quiet time, sit and look long and hard at your hands. Think how they have brought you through life. They have cooked, cleaned, written love letters, cuddled children, gave friends warm hugs. I"m sure there is plenty of love in those hands! Happy Birthday, Pat. I smiled when I read your hand story. I looked at mine the other day and thought that. I said to myself, "I need to gain some weight in my hands and wrists." They seem so small, bony, and wrinkly. My husband, the paramedic, said your hands and wrists are fine, you should see some I see.

You're only as old as you feel. Beautiful goodies for a giveaway. God Bless. (My word verification was ensane. I kind of feel that way sometime. lol)

Hi, Pat! Sending an early happy birthday wish to you. I think so many of us can identify with the hand thing. Just think if we could lose one little wrinkle with every stitch we make! Wouldn't that be a great incentive to be more productive!?! Your giveaway is lovely and, speaking of word verification, mine was "wininal." Do you think it's a sign?

Dear Pat

Have a great Birthday Day and you should be on the receiving end - not the giving end but sometimes to give is to receive in other ways.

My view on getting older is as long as these birthdays keep coming we should be happy. Just had my 75th. in Sept. and wonder where time has gone. Feel more like 50.

This is the first post I have made since coming out of the hospital. Much catching up to do.

Hugs

So those rose items would fit right in! I hope you have a wonderful birthday and take time to look at all those beautiful heirlooms those hands have made! Blessings to you!

Geez, Pat, I should've remembered your birthday was coming up because I noted last year that it was close to mine - Nov. 10th. It certainly doesn't seem like a year has gone by! As usual, you are being so generous with your goodies! Happy Birthday and I hope you enjoy this whole Birthday Week!!

Wow! What a treasure trove! Speaking of hands, I certainly noticed my aging hands this past Saturday while I was helping my daughter into her wedding dress. A very young matron of honor was also assisting, so there was a stark contrast between her taut, smooth hands and my somewhat crinkly, sun-spotted hands. On the heels of my daughter's wedding, I will turn 50 on October 21! If you'd enjoy seeing my daughter's bridal portraits, you may do so here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/11742958@N08/5075189690/in/photostream/

Now to important business: Happy Birthday, Pat! I hope Monday will bring special surprises your way! I happen to believe that people born in October are very special! Remember that you are as young as you feel!

Pat - I love your site! You have been one of my favorites that I go to for inspiration. Have you ever noticed the hands of others. who use them so much in different ways, are strong hands and constantly being used to accomplish dreams. Thank you for the chance to win. Happy Birthday.
