This morning I decided to bring out my favorite basket in the house and put it on the new old green table.
This basket is rather fragile, as it is about a hundred years old. It's big....13" x 26."
And, it's wonderful!
So, I wondered for a bit as to what, if anything, I would put in it.
And, then it came to me...
BUTTONS
I rounded up as many buttons as I could, having a stash of them in several places in the house.
I wanted them to be mostly white, off-white, or Mother-of-Pearl.
With a few exceptions.
For instance, not there yet, but I am going to put some larger brown ones in there.
I also added a big spoon.
For gathering up a handful at a time.
I will add more when I find more.
And,
I will enjoy choosing buttons for a project when needed.
No way I can fill it.
#1, it would take so many more.
#2, it's already heavy, so more would make it impossible to pick up the basket.
#3, I don't want to damage the basket.
So, what do you think?
Right now it is a fun thing to look at and it's always fun to run your hands through a bunch of buttons.
Does there need to be any other reason?
until next time

Oh I love that basket of buttons! I seem to have a "thing" for vintage buttons and if I find any at a thrift store or antique store, I can't resist them. I don't use them alot, but now and then on my mini albums and cards. My coffee table looks like yours.... lots of stacked magazines and books! I can't seem to stay away from magazines and books and I collect them all over the house! They are like old friends and I still keep some from the 70's and 80's (mostly pattern books for knitting or quilting). Have a nice week! Marilyn
I love your basket and the buttons are a great ide!! I love that you added the silver spoon. I’m in love with your green table. Hugs,
Oh, my! I love the basket of buttons! I don't think I could come up with that many but that's okay since I don't have a basket that big. And that is such a beautiful silver spoon. You are finding such great inspiration from your new old green table!

Hello and good morning to all your good readers.
I will always back you in your great idea of having buttons out on the coffee, It makes your guests have something to be interactive. lets admit it always makes a person smile to see then and you cant really resist a finger dragging through them. I wish every one a great day and Go Pat you know I love you and the buttons you know the pearl buttons are my favorites.
As a collector of buttons for many years I never get tired of the Mother of pearl (MOP) they just come to life.
All my best to you as always Brian from Indy
I'm officially in love, and I am going to hide my big bowl of MOP buttons :^) When the girlies were younger, they could spend HOURS sorting and stringing and matching
the buttons. When they went home, I would cut the strings and rumple everything so that they could start all over the next visit.
Blessings,
J
