A Valentine - An Early Start

The Cardinal was Richard's favorite bird.  He loved to watch them feed on our patio.
I found this little ceramic nest with two Cardinals perched there on the edge a long time ago
and decided the other day that it would make a great place to display an embroidered heart
for Valentine's Day.  For "the old navy man."

I haven't made it yet, but thought I'd gather some "ingredients" together
and make him one.  Surely I can do that before it's actually Valentine's Day.
So, here we are....DMC embroidery floss, a bit of old aged lace,  the needles,
the thread (even it is aged!).
And, just for inspiration, I placed a needle book I make long ago....just the right colors.

And, a bundle of fabrics to choose from....although these may not be the ones I use.

Mother of Pearl buttons will line the nest.
There is my little embroidered heart Sampler.
I made those as a stitch guide several years ago.

I'll let you see it beforehand, but it will probably be my post for Valentine's Day too.
I'll add some others to that post.

Here I am....looking forward.
It's all good.
♥️

Stay safe and warm and have a happy heart.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!

Sure hope you all have had a wonderful Valentine's Day!!  In this first three photos, I am showing you a Valentine I bought myself several years ago.  Just couldn't resist and while the old navy man is my BEST Valentine EVER.....he doesn't go to flea markets with me...so it was either buy it myself or miss having it.  You get that, I know you do!

I have no idea who made it...but I still love it and thought you'd enjoy seeing it.  It was framed and everything...and I paid $12 for it.  I remember thinking it was a bargain.  I always say that to myself when I want something.  Usually, it's true...but not always!

It's so cute and really, all you have to do is put a HEART on something and I'm pretty much over the mood about it.   Hope you enjoy seeing it.

And, so now...it's time to announce the WINNER of my Valentine's Day giveaway, pictured here. Thanks to the old navy man...the winner is:  JAYBIRD!!!  A big THANKS to all of you for commenting....as I always say, I wish I could give something to all of you.  I will have another Giveaway later in the Spring...so please try again.  As this day closes,  I hope your heart is full to overflowing and your day was beautiful!  take care, pat

A Valentine Giveaway

Happy Valentine's Day! Well, in a few days, that is. Would you like a giveaway? I'd enjoy giving something away as a Thank You for visiting my blog. And, as you've heard me say several times....I can't give something to everyone...so there will be one person chosen to win these goodies. You never know...it might be you!

There is a 6" x 6" heart collage...made by me in the downtown studio this week...just for that someone special...representing all of you. The collage consists of a canvas, painted...then embellished with paper napkin roses and a painted heart. A Cheerful Heart. A real vintage two cent stamp is in the lower right corner. A paper butterfly flying above the heart. I drew the heart freehand, painted it, the embellished it with those FUN dots. Who knew painting dots on a canvas with the sharp end of a wooden skewer could be such fun...that skewer has become one of my favorite painting 'tools.' Then, words gathered from an old book....another of the things I find I love to do, finish the heart. I also have a rubber stamp that is about a two inch square and it is nothing but rows of dots. So, I painted the stamp and randomly added dots around the edges. I enjoyed making this collage and I want someone else to enjoy owning it.

There is a little heart Journal...just a cheapie from Michaels, but it does have a heart, so it's included. A strand of red, purple and pink glass hearts tickled my fancy, so I bought two. One for me...one for you. You know I love birds, so I'll write you a personal note inside the bird card.

So...to win, dear friends, just leave a comment on THIS post....and I'll have the old navy man chose the winner late Tuesday night. Hopefully, you'll be out having fun that night, so check to see if you've won on Wednesday!! If you are the winner, kindly let me know your mailing address in an email....and these goodies will be on their way to you. If you are not the winner, do not despair, I'll be having another giveaway before the month is over....as the 23rd is my blog's anniversary....4 years. Who knew I could keep it going this long?

As always, thank you for visiting and have a good weekend out there...stay warm, safe and cozy! pat
